Jesús Arámbula
Jesus was born in Baja California, Mexico. He first came to the United States with his parents at the age of 7 and lived in San Diego, CA for almost 5 years. Before finishing elementary school, he moved back to Mexico, traveling to different cities in Baja California, from Tijuana, to Rosarito, and even back to his hometown of Ensenada. Before he turned 15 years old, he and his parents moved to San Francisco, CA. During his early years, Jesus was fascinated with video games, and he became curious about how they were created. This is what sparked his interest in pursuing a career in tech and to learn coding.
Jesus studied computer science at the City College of San Francisco, where he earned 4 Associate's degrees: Computer Science, Arts and Humanities, Math and Science, and Japanese. Jesus initially wanted to learn Japanese for fun, but ended up earning a degree for it. He then transferred to San Francisco State University where he graduated in 2023 with his bachelor’s in computer science. Jesus is now studying to become an IT specialist.
Jesus worked as a media specialist for Communities in Harmony Advocating for Learning and Kids (CHALK) in 2019. There, he acquired Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro editing skills, as well as photography and web design. He was later promoted to Peer Supervisor where he began managing community events, training new hires, and participated in outreach. After CHALK, Jesus worked with Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) as an IT support volunteer and trainee. He was both learning and helping his fellow peers with earning a Google IT Support Certificate.
As a DreamSF fellow, Jesus is placed with Mission Graduates. He hopes to become a valuable asset to the Parent Partner Program and help parents and students alike with tech-related questions.
Some of Jesus’ hobbies are working out at the gym, playing guitar, playing video games with friends, and playing Magic: the Gathering. His favorite way to spend his time is going out with friends and family to different places in San Francisco.
