Maria Garcia
Maria Garcia first came to San Francisco, California when she was eight years old. She migrated with her mother and two younger siblings with the help of her father, who, like many other immigrant parents, came to the United States first to later bring their families, in hopes of a better future. Maria faced her new life in this country with optimism.
An unfortunate turn of events took Maria back to her home country in Mexico where she received her bachelor’s degree in Management of Tourism Enterprises at UDAL (Universidad de América Latina) Puebla. Maria taught English classes at CIP, a personalized English teaching institution.
As a DreamSF fellow placed at Jubilee Immigration Advocates, Maria is eager to learn how to help the immigrant community through immigration consultations, interpretations, and sharing resources.
Maria loves to spend time with her daughter and family. She shakes the stress away with dancing and playing soccer. Most importantly, she keeps her feet grounded with her solid spiritual beliefs.
