Abdul Secilmis
Abdul was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. From high school onwards, he pursued an unconventional education path, focusing on classical philosophy, history, and theology. He studied at Marmara University before taking a break from his university education during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now working towards obtaining a degree in engineering.
In 2023, Abdul moved to the United States and has spent his entire time in the Bay Area. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA. As A DreamSF Fellow, he is placed at the Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) with the Newcomers Services program.
Throughout his career, Abdul has been deeply involved with various non-profits in Istanbul, both as a volunteer and in various positions. His diverse background has given him a unique perspective and a strong commitment to social justice and community support. Abdul's professional goal is to leverage his skills and his experience in non-profits to make a meaningful impact for underserved communities.
In his free time, Abdul enjoys riding motorcycles, watching anime, and playing computer games. These hobbies reflect his adventurous spirit and his love for storytelling and immersive experiences.
