Melissa is Mexican and her greatest inspiration is her family. She immigrated to San Francisco in search of opportunities due to the difficult economic situation in her country.

In Mexico, Melissa earned a Masters of Science in biology. She is currently studying Business and Administration at City College of San Francisco (CCSF). Currently, she works for the City Dream program at CCSF, where she helps undocumented students get scholarships and resources to continue studying. Melissa is also the manager of Home Support and Companionship, a cooperative that works together with Dolores Street Community Services and is made up of Latino businessmen who care for the elderly, in San Francisco. She is a fellow at Coleman Advocates, helping community college students learn more about school services and opportunities. Melissa runs her own digital marketing business,Tok Tok Digital Marketing, where she creates websites and marketing campaigns for businesses. She is passionate about helping her community so that her children have a better education, regardless of their immigration status or race.

As a DreamSF Fellow, Melissa is placed at Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA). She feels solidarity with the women MUA serves. In this role, she will support MUA's social media and marketing efforts.

Melissa is a woman with many dreams. Her greatest inspiration are her children, who motivate her to fight every day and give the best of herself. She firmly believes that change begins with us, and that is the best legacy that she wants to leave for her children. She will continue to work for her community. Her dream is to make San Francisco a community filled with love and tolerance.

Melissa really likes cars, especially fast ones! She loves to go out and feel the air because it feels freeing.

Melissa es mexicana y su mayor inspiración es su familia. Emigró a San Francisco en busca de oportunidades debido a la difícil situación económica de su país.

En México, Melissa obtuvo una Maestría en Ciencias en Biología en la Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Actualmente estudia Negocios y Administración en City College of San Francisco (CCSF). Melissa, trabaja para el programa de City Dream en City College of San Francisco, donde ayuda a estudiantes indocumentados a obtener becas y recursos para continuar estudiando. Melissa también es administradora de “Home Support and Companionship", una cooperativa que trabaja en conjunto con Dolores Street Community Services y está conformada por empresarios latinos que cuidan a personas mayores, en San Francisco. Es miembro de Coleman Advocates y ayuda a los estudiantes de colegios comunitarios a aprender más sobre los servicios y las oportunidades escolares. Melissa dirige su propio negocio de marketing digital, “Tok Tok Digital Marketing", donde crea sitios web y campañas de marketing para empresas. Le apasiona ayudar a su comunidad para que sus hijos tengan una mejor educación, sin importar su estatus migratorio o raza.

Como becaria de DreamSF, Melissa colabora con Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA). Melissa siente solidaridad con las mujeres de MUA y se siente sumamente identificada con ellas. Esta oportunidad le ayudará a desarrollarse profesionalmente en el área de marketing  y redes sociales.

Melissa es una mujer con muchos sueños. Su mayor inspiración son sus hijos, quienes la motivan a luchar cada día y dar lo mejor de sí misma. Ella cree firmemente que el cambio empieza en nosotros mismos y ese es el mejor legado que quiere dejar a sus hijos. Ella seguirá trabajando por su comunidad. Su sueño es hacer de San Francisco una comunidad llena de amor y tolerancia.

A Melissa le gustan mucho los autos, ¡especialmente los veloces!. Le encanta salir y sentir el aire porque se siente libre.
