Jun Park
Jun Park was born in Seoul, South Korea. At the age of 7, Jun moved to Oakland, California with his parents and younger brother in hopes for a better future. Seeing the struggles of his parents while adjusting to living in the U.S., Jun decided to pursue higher education in order to support immigrant communities.
Jun graduated from University of California, Davis in 2020 with Bachelors in Sociology. After graduation, he participated in Immigrants Rising’s High School Career Program and was placed at Pittsburg High School in November 2020. At Pittsburg High School, Jun worked with the school’s college and career counselors to provide resources, presentations, and college admissions and financial aid application workshops for first generation college students.
Jun aspires to attend graduate school in order to pursue a Masters in Social Work. Jun hopes to utilize his professional and educational experiences to be an advocate for and support underrepresented communities across the Bay Area.
As a DreamSF Fellow, Jun is placed at Excelsior Works!, non-profit, in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. Excelsior Works! provides services in employment support, housing, food security, and immigration legal services. As a fellow, Jun will support the Community Engagement Coordinator with legal clinics and direct services for community members.
In his free time, Jun enjoys going to his local climbing gym. He also enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction books in a quiet environment, where he can wind down after a long day at work.
