Noremi Marin was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico and migrated to the United States when she was 5 years old. Since her arrival, she has faced and dealt with the struggles attributed by being an immigrant in the US. All of Noremi’s experiences have motivated her to pursue a degree in higher education.

Noremi attended high school in Pacifica, CA, where she wrote and presented a 15 page thesis: “Should undocumented immigrants receive amnesty?”. From that moment forward, Noremi became more roused with interest by the complexity of immigrant rights, especially from her first-hand experiences growing up as an undocumented immigrant.

Through her strong voice and opinions, she has taken initiative to educate her friends and family. As an intern for the ANSWER Coalition in San Francisco, she spearheaded community events, invested in community outreach, and attended peaceful protests. This helped her develop an interest in advocacy and inspired her to become more involved within her community.

She is currently attending Skyline College, where she is pursuing an associates degree in Political Science and paralegal certification. Noremi plans to attend UC Berkeley where she will continue to pursue Political Science and eventually attend law school.

As part of the SF Dream Cohort, Noremi was placed in Catholic Charities San Francisco. There, Noremi will be helping with legal immigration work as well as advocating and educating the immigrant community about their rights and what’s currently happening with the immigration system.

As a young loving single mother, Noremi’s life revolves around her son. She is very family-oriented and loves to spend as much time with them as she can. When she’s not busy with homework, family or work, Noremi likes to go out for walks and relax.
