Jaline Chan is a student at San Francisco State University majoring in Health Education, with an emphasis in public health, and pursuing a Minor in women's health. Jaline was born in Yucatan, Mexico and was then raised in San Francisco. Jaline has learned to adapt in society, and despite various adversities along the way, she is the first in her family to attend a 4-year university. Jaline uses her education as a form of empowerment. She uses her voice to advocate for those who feel silenced.

Jaline’s passion for serving the immigrant community led her to Clinica Martin Baro, a community clinic that mostly serves undocumented folks that do not have any form of insurance. Because of this volunteer experience, Jaline believes that everyone deserves to seek health care regardless of status, because we all deserve to be taken care of and live a life full of wellbeing. Jaline hopes to pursue a career in health as a nurse practitioner with a certification in midwifery. In the healthcare system there is a lack of women of color as midwives, and she hopes to change that in order to better serve her community.

Jaline is currently a fellow at WE RISE SF- Labor Center for Immigrant Justice, where she works closely with the immigrant community, providing access to legal services. She is also working with immigrant labor unions to provide them with assistance to address their needs.

In her free time, Jaline enjoys going on runs with her dog, the beauty of nature, and spending time with her family.
