Daniel Garcia graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with High Distinction in General Scholarship. Prior to that, he earned Associates Degrees in Sociology and Political Science from Mt. San Antonio College where he graduated with Academic Distinction Honor and Honors Scholar Certified. Daniel is originally from Ecuador and migrated to the United States with his family in 2015.

During his time in community college, Daniel served as a Senator and the Vice President of the Associated Students organization, which ignited his passion for public service. In these positions, Daniel advocated for different underrepresented groups at the campus-wide and administrative levels. Through this work, Daniel found an interest in the law and the legal field. This interest was cemented and became his new path when he attended and completed the LSAC Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program at the Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law.

During his time at UC Berkeley, Daniel volunteered at the East Bay Community Law Center at the Consumer Justice Clinic obtaining exposure to the legal field and serving the local community. He was selected and participated in the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Summer Junior Institute at the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy in Summer 2019. As a public policy and law fellow, he learned about the intersectionality between public policy and the law, and expanded his scope within the legal field.

As a DreamSF fellow, Daniel is placed at the Mission Economic District Agency (MEDA). In his position as fellow, he will work with the Evaluations Department to assess and develop the existing programs that serve the community of the Mission District. During his free time, he enjoys lifting, attending concerts and the theater, and listening to music.
