Nadia Marangao de Melo Brasil
Nadia Marangao de Melo Brasil recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Kinesiology. Nadia believes restoring one’s ability to function through exercise is the most rewarding part of her career. Originally from Brasil, Nadia moved to the United States in 2002. Nadia has served as a volunteer with Young Life, as well as secretary for IDEAS (Improving Dream Equity Access and Success) at San Francisco State University, and she currently volunteers at Seton Physical Rehabilitation Center in Daly City.
As a DACA recipient, Nadia understands the need for a healthcare system that serves all people, regardless of status. Having seen firsthand the effects of unfair healthcare laws and policies in her community, Nadia hopes to continue to educate herself and utilize the DreamSF fellowship to ignite change.
Through the DreamSF Fellowship, Nadia is a fellow with Legal Services for Children. She works alongside attorneys and social workers, helping local youth apply for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) benefits. Nadia is in charge of the initial screening process and case follow-up procedures. In her spare time Nadia enjoys activities outdoors, such as camping and hiking.
